Terminal and Hangar Development

The Calhoun County Airport had been decimated by Hurricane Michael in 2018. The construction project was funded by the Florida Department of Transportation.

The project included the demolition of damaged pre-existing structures, an extensive overhaul of the site’s civil infrastructure, the rebuilding of the airport terminal, and the construction of two new 60’ x 60’ aviation hangars.

The resulting terminal is a state-of-the-art 4,000 square-foot civil aviation terminal that boasts a large conference room for hosting community meetings, as well as rest room and shower facilities for arriving pilots and their guests. There are also business and lounge areas for pilots to access internet services, log flight plans, and relax between flights.

The two new aviation hangars will be available for lease to the aviation community, while one hangar is slated to be used as a commercial aviation rebuild facility, with a national customer base.
